Engagement and community-based learning are goals of the Public Service Center and the Alternative Breaks Program. The mission of the Public Service Center is to champion the conviction that the Cornell University experience confirms service as essential to active citizenship.

 

Alternative Breaks promotes community-based service learning through direct public service with various communities to heighten social awareness, enhance personal growth and advocate lifelong social action. Excellence in public engagement is one of our five major strategic planning goals of Cornell University and Alternative Breaks exemplifies Engaged Cornell – a groundbreaking, $150 million, 10-year initiative to establish community engagement and real-world learning experiences as the hallmark of the Cornell undergraduate experience.
